When exploring Singapore’s rich cultural and historical sites such as temples, mosques, churches, heritage shophouses, and museums, always show respect and mindfulness. Do dress modestly (cover shoulders and knees) especially at religious places too.

Do follow all posted signs, stay on designated paths, and dispose of rubbish properly — Singapore takes cleanliness seriously. Don’t touch artifacts, climb on structures, or lean against historic walls. By observing these simple courtesies, you’ll enjoy a more meaningful experience and help preserve Singapore’s precious heritage for everyone.

Do arrive early or visit on weekday mornings to enjoy cooler weather and fewer crowds, wear comfortable shoes and light clothing, bring water, and stay hydrated. Do stick to the marked paths and boardwalks, explore the Rainforest Trail, National Orchid Garden, and the beautiful Swan Lake. Do take photos freely, have picnics in allowed open areas, and keep the gardens clean by using the many rubbish bins.

Don’t pick or touch any flowers, plants, or fruits, don’t feed the swans, turtles, or any wildlife (it’s strictly prohibited), don’t cycle or scoot inside the gardens (except for young children in designated areas), don’t bring pets, and don’t play loud music or drone flying without permission. The Singapore Botanic Gardens was established in 1859, and was successfully inscribed as Singapore's first UNESCO World Heritage Site on 4 July 2015.

Planning a trip to Mandai Wildlife Reserve soon?
Do book your tickets online in advance (it’s cheaper and guarantees entry), arrive early or choose timed slots to avoid long queues, and wear comfortable shoes, light clothing, and mosquito repellent. Do bring a light jacket for Night Safari (it gets cooler), follow the tram and walking trails, keep your voice low, and use the free shuttles between the four parks. Do take lots of photos (flash is allowed only where signs say so) and enjoy the animal shows and feeding sessions on schedule.

Don’t use flash photography when signs prohibit it (it stresses the animals), don’t feed or touch any animals, don’t bring outside food or drinks into the restaurants and don’t bring straws, plastic bags or balloons (they harm wildlife if dropped). Follow these easy rules and you’ll have an amazing, animal-friendly day at Mandai.

Don’t disturb plants, animals (pigeons, monkeys, crows, otters, etc) or habitats—avoid picking flowers, feeding wildlife, or straying off marked trails, as this can harm fragile ecosystems. Don’t bring or release any non-native species (including pets in restricted areas), and don’t use single-use plastics that could end up polluting nature reserves. By respecting these guidelines, you help conserve Singapore’s precious biodiversity and contribute to the protection of its natural heritage for future generations!
